ID CARD PRINTERS
these days there are so many id card printers and choosing a best and affordable printer for your business is a complex task but before selecting a card printer you need to think about your current and future card printing need.
so here I am sharing few tips so you can decide which ID Card Printer is better for your organization.
1. Know your Card Printing volume - first, decide how many cards are you going to print on a monthly or yearly basis. knowing this can make a big difference because you don't want to invest in a big ID Card Printer which is designed to print more than 10,000 Id cards annually if your requirement is only 1,000 cards annually.
2. Card Appearance - now we need to choose which type of card do you want to print.
- Black Cards - if you want black & white cards then consider printers which print only single color id cards as these printers are less costly
- Color Cards - printers with the capability of printing color cards are costlier but they are more versatile and it is a good choice and these printers can also print single color id cards.
- Single Side Printing - printer which prints one side but they can print on both sides but you have to put a card two times in that printer.
- Dual Side Printing - these printers can print on both sides of the card but they are more costly than single side printers.
- Edge to Edge Printing - the thermal print head is used to transfer color from ribbon to card. these printers print photo-realistic colors. the photos have slight borders but they look borderless. the print quality is average on most of the entry-level printers.
- Borderless High Quality - if image quality is what you need then only consider these printers. they offer high quality and tamper resistant cards. the cards are borderless but these printers will cost you more and sometimes they are slow.
- Card Security - decide which type of security you need. if you don't need any security and just need a card for visual identification which can be printed on a normal PVC card then go for lower-cost printers, these cards are best for student ID cards etc..
if you need cards for office attendance system, hotel room key, membership cards then find an ID Card Printer which can print on Magnetic stripe Cards.
You can also go for Smart Cards or Access Cards technology if you need more security as these cards can store more data. to print these types of card you need a professional printer with encoders. one example is kiosk payment cards.
